Budweiser and George Dickel. Cheap night for me tonight

Living in the PNW, an IPA is mandatory.
Either that or some Macallan 12.

I haven't had a good cask beer in ages! I'm assuming that's what's on the bottom?
![]() 12/13/2013 at 20:15 |
|
Correct. The answer to the mystery turns out to be the brewhouse's anniversary ale.
Edit: The other two are an unfiltered IPA, and an ESB on nitro.

Poor baby.

Keepin things simple with a Modelo Negro and a lime.

I had a feeling when I saw the picture that was a barleywine, turns out I was right.
Drinking Johnny Walker Red Label scotch, have Three Floyds Alpha Klaus & Gumballhead, Two Brothers collaboration with Solemn Oath (can't think of the name), and Sprecher Oktoberfest in the fridge though.
![]() 12/13/2013 at 20:26 |

How is Alpha Klaus? Just saw that the other day. And hon...only a troll would think that a beer that BA rates 84 is unworthy of criticism.

Sippin on this right now (photo not mine)

Heeeyooo..
And there's a glass of Tallisker 12 Y.O here as well

Oohh.. that's a rather nice IPA you've got there.

Please tell me that's better than crispin?
I love a GOOD hard cider.

Alas, tonight I bottle, so no beer for me. I must drown my sorrows in cookies for the time being. sigh.
I do likes me a good barleywine though... What do you think?
![]() 12/13/2013 at 21:05 |
|
Oh it is... Cocoa, vanilla, some spicyness (oak chips I think) LOTS of coffee.. 10% ABV.. So it's a rather nasty motherfucker.. or as Brewdog puts it "To fully unleash the aromas and bittersweet luxury of this stout, we recommend drinking it from a stemmed beer glass before taking a slegdehammer to a Faberge Egg"
![]() 12/13/2013 at 21:09 |
|
I didn't notice the cocoa and coffee connection for some reason. I'm indifferent on coffee beers but that was when I never drank coffee. But having picked up that, I should probably try some more coffee beers

If you ever happen to stumble upon beer geek breakfast by Mikeller.. BUY IT... It's an oatmeal stout.. you can taste the oatmeal, the coffee, caramunich malt, the cocoa.. I simply can't get enough of that beer... It's the perfect "I'm having a few days of, I'll spend my days skiing" beer..
![]() 12/13/2013 at 21:16 |
|
It's decent. Avery has a better barleywine though. I love Hog Heaven.

Last brew dog I had was tactical nuclear penguin. Several of us shared it. One bottle. Lol.
![]() 12/13/2013 at 21:23 |
|
Ohh... Tactical Nuclear Penguin is good.. but I'm not sure I'd call it a beer though.. :) 32% ABV = shitfaced rather quick :)
But all that tasty malt though.. mhmm... Speyside..
![]() 12/13/2013 at 21:25 |

I'm sold. Time to look up where I can get it.
![]() 12/13/2013 at 21:29 |

TNP still tastes like a beer.
Yeah. 64 proof. That's why several of us shared one small bottle. By the shot (that was sipped at). It burns like hard alcohol. I still have one bottle left.
![]() 12/13/2013 at 21:29 |
|
Wish I could help you mate, I've got a few bottles, but I'll never let them go.. As with most of Mikeller beers it's a limited release. But keep searching, you might find it, and it's a dark beer, so it keeps rather well.
![]() 12/13/2013 at 21:31 |

I have one as well.. and a bottle of sick the bismarck :)

Do a few lines and you won't eat for weeks kid.

dry, smooth, lightly hopped, better than anything except perhaps Heady Topper.

I'm late to the party but I had this!

I am mentally young and vibrant. In reality, I am 36 years old, married, with three YOUNG kids. Friday nights, unless I get a babysitter, are now quite boring.
But also, I'll be getting my drink on tonight at a Christmas party, so I have to save myself for that.

Haven't opened the Alpha Klaus yet, will let you know how it is.
The only things I look up on BeerAdvocate is the ABV of beer if it isn't on the bottle, personally I'm sick of beer snobs telling people what to drink. If the beer tastes good I'll drink it, I don't care about people calling a beer terrible just because it isn't a double imperial barleywine aged 15 years in pappy van winkle barrels.
TL;DR: Drink what you like, I'll drink what I like.

Oskar Blues G'Knight. First time I've had it and I are in love. With the beer.
And hey, I somehow ended up on a 3 week old post without noticing. Go me.

Lol. Which Oscar blues? And they're all good.

G'Knight. It's an Imperial Red IPA. Hadn't had it yet.
